Party Postponed!

Due to the post below and the fact that Christa and Andrew might actually want to attend and enjoy their shower we have decided to postpone the Cuban party. We will keep you "posted" as to when it will be rescheduled. Sorry for the short notice and please pass the word!

Brennan Update!

Christa began having contractions at Rob's party on Sunday and continued to have them thru the night. Monday morning they went to the doctor and were given drugs to stop the contractions. More trips to the doctor and more pills didn't stop the contractions so Wednesday morning she was admitted to North Kansas City Hospital in an attempt to stop them. She is receiving magnesium sulfate which is elevating her blood pressure and making her lethargic and giving her an upset stomach. She can't even keep water down. She was admitted having 10 contractions per hour and now it has been reduced to 1 or 2 per hr. They are attempting to stop them completely at which point they will take her off the magnesium IV and begin giving a pill orally to keep the contractions from starting up again. Once they have subsided for 24 hrs, they will monitor for another 24 hrs before releasing her, so at this point she will be in at least until Sunday. Brennan vital signs seem good, he just seems ready to come out a little early! He has had 2 shots of steroids (great! he's banned from baseball already! ;-)) to help develop his lungs. Christa had been pregnant for 34 weeks and they would really like her to be 36 weeks for a normal delivery. They are really trying to keep her labor subsided at least until next Thursday which will be the 35 week mark. If he comes before them, they will have to take him to another hospital that is better equipped to handle premature births.

So keep them in your hearts and prayers!

They are in room 702 at NKCH but from what I heard, I doubt they are up for visitors. Andrew asked that you call him on his cellphone (816-536-4769) if you need to contact them. (not the hospital phone!) or you can post comments here or call me at 816-806-4665. I'll try and keep you posted!

Georgia's Dance Tickets

The tickets to GG's dance recital are being sold now and will probably sell out. If you are interested in attending please add a comment so I can make sure we have a ticket for you. There are two performances, Sat July 22nd at 7pm and Sun (7/23)at 2pm. They say Saturday nite always sells out fast so we'll need to act pretty quickly.

Georgia is only in one dance which will last just under 3 minutes and the auditorium is in Liberty, so no one will be offended by anyone not wanting to attend, but if you would like to we need to know soon. The tickets cost $7 each so add a comment saying how many tickets you want and which performance you want to attend.

Memorial Tournament

Jack Nicklaus' Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Ohio was this past weekend. We lived in Columbus Ohio for a few years (8th thru 10th grade) and one year Dad got tickets to the tournament. I'll never forget what it felt like to go that first professional golf tournament. The grounds were immaculate and I wore my KC Royals hat, just in case we ran into Tom Watson! I remember loving that day as we ran into someone that wanted to save our souls by saying they personally knew Tommy Lasorda. We followed Tom Weiskopf(sp?) and watched him uncharacteristically explode on a few holes trying to hit it out of a creek and failing miserably. Dad and I pretty much spent the whole day out there in the sticky heat after thunderstorms in the morning.(I think Vince got to go another day) Tom Watson did walk by and I was sure that he noticed that I was a KC fan. I'm sure that I never told Dad how much I enjoyed going to that golf match with him that day.
Since then I've gotten to go to a Senior's Event at Lock Lloyd in Kansas City and another one in Birmingham Alabama with Dad and enjoyed both of them as well. In Alabama I think we got to see Jim Colbert hit a hole in one. I've always wanted to be able to afford taking Dad to a couple tournaments a year (especially the Masters) but I've never been able to get to a position to be able to accomplish that. Hopefully over the next few years that will change. I would enjoy it a great deal.
