Christa is home

Thursday morning Christa was allowed to come home. Brennan has been taken off of some of his monitors and has started to take bottles as opposed to being fed from the tube. He is now in an incubator which might seem like a step down but Andrew told me the bed that he was sleeping in had been regulating his temperature for him. He was naked except for his diaper and his temp was being monitored constantly. If it noticed a drop in temp the heat lamps would automatically come on to help raise his temp. I did notice some of the babies with their lights on constantly but I never saw that with Brennan. The "suntan" babies had these cute covers for their eyes that was basically a piece of padded foam in the shape of sunglasses and they actually had a imprint of a pair of sunglasses on them. Two little stickers were placed on their temples and the "sunglasses" were velcroed to them. It was pretty cute. Today Brennan got a new roommate that was 11 lbs 11 oz. and almost 24 inches long! He better stay away from that kid, even WITH the steroids!;-) They are hoping that if all goes well Brennan should be home by next weekend. Andrew and Christa are making constant trips to the hospital to feed Brennan whenever they can. He is so tiny and so precious. He is very calm and doesn't ever seem to cry. He is practicing regulating his own temperature and continues to improve in eating from the bottle. As long as he continues to gain weight and ween himself from the tube feedings it shouldn't be long now before he is safe and sound at home.
